Perform Next™ Day 2

On Day 2, the Perform Next focus extends to Difficult Conversations and Creating a Culture of Accountability™, two integrated skill sets for further growing individual and team performance through attentive leadership.
Circumstances sometimes call a leader to move beyond feedback and engage in difficult conversations. The ability to have a difficult conversation that strengthens rather than destroys relationship is a leadership skill that can be learned. Too often, paralysis trumps action. The outcome and/or the relationship may be extremely important, but the leaders involved lack tools and confidence. To be courageous, timely, and effective in difficult conversations is to powerfully shift both culture and results.
Engaging in difficult conversations is one of Creating a Culture of Accountability™. Accountability is both a cultural quality and a personal promise, and one does not thrive without the other. Leaders cultivate a culture of accountability by 1) designing a feedback-rich environment, 2) creating space for meaningful dialogue, and 3) engaging in difficult conversations. These choices build an enterprise culture in which accountability thrives.
Leaders secure the personal promise of accountability by 1) clarifying, 2) contracting, and 3) committing. These steps must be taken over and over and over again, by leaders who are present for those they lead.
An enterprise in need of greater accountability is often overly-focused on the personal promise. Attending to the cultural level creates a higher probability that the personal promises of accountability will stick, generating lasting results for the enterprise.
Perform Next™ is a transformative learning experience. Our program designers are experts in adult and organizational learning and development – as well as leading edge innovators. Specific content is readily shifted in the direction of emerging or experienced leaders, depending on who is in the room. The work is creative and experiential; rich in practical skill development; and customizable to build specific results for the enterprise.
